One NL Runner at Calgary Half Marathon
70.3 All That And More
614 legs cut through the cool waters of Pasadena Beach Sunday morning for the start of the Newfoundland Ironman 70.3.Steve Dyke was the first local male to complete the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run in 4:35:40. Caroline McIlroy was the first local female across in 5:06:55. Full results are HERE.

Tely 10 Hot and Humid
In spite of temperatures in the 20's and humidity approaching 90%, Colin Fewer ran a PB of 50:11 in Sunday's Tely 10. Lisa Harvey captured the women's title in 58:11 while being challenged (and overtaken at one point!) by Caroline McIlroy (59:10) all the way.Full results are HERE and Telegram coverage is HERE.

Denis Ryan Completes Knee Knacker
Congratulations to Denis Ryan of Marystown on completion of the Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run in North Vancouver on July 14. Denis completed the rigorous 30 mile trail run in a time of 6:29:40 and placed 39 overall in a field of 200 runners.The Knee Knackering course essentially follows the Baden Powell trail which traverses Vancouver's North Shore Mountains with some 16,000 feet of vertical climb and descent.

Carbonear Triathlon
The water was calm and the sun was hot for yesterday's 19th Annual Carbonear Triathlon. About 70 athletes finished the sprint ... congratulations to Caroline McIlroy and Will Fitzgerald for their victories. Results will soon be posted HERE.

Dave Ruggles Down Under
Dave Ruggles has moved away from Newfoundland but certainly hasn't moved away from running! Last weekend he won the Perth Australia Marathon in a time of 2:37:59.

Record Field For Mews 8K
In a record field of 235 runners, Colin Fewer captured 1st place last Sunday at the Toyota Plaza Mews Timex 8K Road Race. Colin finished in 24:16 and was followed by 2nd place Kerry Murphy in 24:44, and 3rd place Grant Handrigan in 24:54.
Female honors go to 1st place Lise Petrie in 30:44, 2nd place Donna Dixon in 31:27, and 3rd place Alison Jones in 31:39.

Carbonear Triathlon This Sunday
The Carbonear Sprint Triathlon starts 10am Sunday July 15. The 500m open water swim, 20K bike and 5K run is a great warm-up for the 70.3 or the St. John's Triathlon, or an excellent starter event for newbies!Register race morning at the pool in Carbonear.

Trepassey Posse Survived!
In spite of the wind and rain the 1st Annual Trepassey Posse bike ride was a huge success! Sunshine and a tail wind for the last 100k brought all riders home safe and sound ... the first 200k we won't talk about!

Open Water Swim Next Wednesday
The St. John's Triathlon Committee will host the Annual Open Water Swim next Wednesday July 11 at the Sunshine Camp Thorburn Road.Register 5:45 - 6:15 pm for a 6:30 pm start. Choose to swim 500m (sprint), 1000m (Olympic) or 2000m (70.3 Ironman) distance.

McIlroy and Fewer Do It Again !
Continuing their string of victories Caroline McIlroy and Colin Fewer took the honors again at Sunday's Hbc Run For Canada 10K event.In the field of 115 runners Colin was first across the line in 32:36 and Caroline crossed in 37:26. Full results can be viewed HERE.
