Blueberry 10K Next Sunday 9AM

The 25th Annual Blueberry Harvest 10K is next Sunday September 7 in Harbour Grace starting 9AM.

Registration is Thursday September 4 from 6-9pm at Toyota Plaza Kenmount Road. The first 200 registrants will receive a long sleeve cotton shirt.

Downward Dog Yoga is again offering the popular weekly Stretch For Runners class starting Monday September 8.

Monday Night Rides Continue

Due to the excellent weather the Monday night bike rides from the Sunshine Camp will continue into September.

Next Monday September 1st the 6:30pm ride will be followed by a pizza supper (bring some cash). And starting Monday September 8, rides will begin at 6pm to get more daylight.

Pretty In Penticton


Jason Pretty had an exceptional performance Saturday at Ironman Canada in Penticton BC.

His 1:08:26 swim (3.8k), 6:16:00 bike (180k) and 4:32:51 run (42.2k marathon) brought him across the finish line in 12 hours 7 minutes and 12 seconds.

Dunford Takes Quidi Vidi

Joe Dunford won yesterday's Quidi Vidi 5k in a time of 17:02 and in a field of 73 runners.

New York Marathon Qualifying Standards

The only way to get to Boston is to QUALIFY, but did you know that in addition to the lottery draw, another way into the New York Marathon is to meet their QUALIFYING STANDARDS? And you can qualify for New York with either a full or half marathon performance. Thanks to Will Small for the tip.

The Nautilus Provincial Marathon is certified and can qualify you for Boston and/or New York in 2009. Next year Nautilus hopes to also certify the half marathon course.

Run For Respect Exceeds Goals

Yesterday's Run For Respect raised over $6,000 for Planned Parenthood in Newfoundland and Labrador. Thanks to Brenda Kitchen and her crew for putting off another excellent event.

Bob's Half Marathon In Corner Brook

The Corner Brook Running Club has announced the date of their annual Bob's Half Marathon. This year’s 8th annual running of the 21.1 km event is scheduled for Sunday September 21.

Registration is 10am at the Greenwood Inn in Corner Brook with a race start of 11am. The course is Corner Brook to Steady Brook return running along Riverside Drive and the Humber River. Registration fee is $10.00.

A social at the Greenwood Inn will follow from 6-10pm Sunday evening.

Marathon Just A Month Away

The Nautilus Provincial Marathon and Half Marathon are set to go Sunday September 14 starting 7:30am at Pearlgate Track.

Joe Ryan’s Cape to Cabot (C2C) 13-week Advanced Training Program will kick off tonight @ 6pm. Those interested in joining the program are welcome to meet at the large unpaved parking lot across from the Legion on the Boulevard for registration and a run.

Kids Of Steel Record Turnout

With a 2 day postponement due to bad weather, the 2008 Kids Of Steel finally went off last Friday with a record 101 104 participants.

Capital Subaru St.John's Tri

The rain, drizzle and fog didn't dampen the spirits of hundreds of athletes, volunteers and spectators at yesterday's Capital Subaru St.John's Triathlon. More than 160 triathletes took part in the standard distance, sprint distance, duathlon, and team events.

Steve Dyke was the winner of the standard distance 1k swim, 46k bike ride and 10k run in a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 2 seconds. Kathy Whelan was the first woman across the line in 2:21:31.

Wayne Cho Crossing Canada

In a bid to raise awareness about anxiety and depression Wayne Cho left St.John's in May on a cross-Canada run. He's now in Deer Lake but looking at this picture he's lucky he made it off Cape Spear! You can follow his journey HERE.

Regatta & KOS Postponed Again

The 2008 Kids Of Steel Triathlon has yet again been postponed with the Regatta. Event is set to go 9am Regatta Day in Bowring Park.

Come out and watch close to 100 kids swim, bike and run throughout the morning. Race day registration will be available from 8-8:30am by the Bowring Park swimming pool. Fee is $20.

Cape To Cabot 70% Full

With room for only 400 runners you better sign up NOW for the October 19 Cape To Cabot 20K. As of today there are just over 100 spots available and this year there will be no waiting list.
