Molson Lite 10K Results

Last Saturday's Molson Lite 10K results are now available HERE.

National Shoe Trail Ten Results

The National Shoe Trail Ten ran in Corner Brook yesterday with 46 finishers. Geordie Summers Lubar was first for the men in 37:15 while Suzanne Mills was first lady in 45:59.

Fewer & Vaughan Win Molson 10K

Colin Fewer and Kate Vaughan ran away with victories at this morning's Molson Lite 10K. The weather was fantastic but the hills were tough on the temporary Southside course.

Paradise Tri Only 10 Days Away

Early Bird registration for the Paradise Triathlon ends tomorrow so SIGN UP NOW to save some bucks and get yourself a nice t-shirt!

The 1st annual event is set to go 10 days from now on Sunday June 28. Be part of what is bound to be a long-standing addition to the NL Tri scene.

The Town of Grand Falls - Windsor is host to the 5th Annual Aliant Centennial Cup 5k and 10k Road Races on Sunday June 28.

Run For Freedom Saturday June 27

Commemorating the Battle of Beaumont Hamel, the 2009 Run For Freedom is Saturday June 27 in Riverhead, St.Mary's Bay.

This year you can register in advance at Toyota Plaza Kenmount Road from 6-8:30pm on Thursday June 25. Race-day registration opens 8:30am at the Royal Canadian Legion in Riverhead and race starts 10am. Chose from a competitive 8k or recreational 5k. $10 for adults and $5 for under 18. Post-race reception at the Legion.

Trails & Endurance, Bread & Honey, & Ireland

Following his PB finish of 3:09 in the Vancouver Marathon on May 3, Denis Ryan from Marystown continued a fine season of running with a 2nd place finish at the Tender Knee 12 km Trail Race at North Vancouver on May 31 with a time of 55:53.

On June 6th he placed 6th overall and 2nd in the 21-29 age group at the 50km North Face Endurance Challenge in Bellingham, WA with a time of 5hrs and 18 min.

In other Running Away news George Blackwood ran 1:04:47 at the Bread & Honey 15K in Mississauga last weekend. And Geoff Budden ran the Cork Marathon in 4:15.

Vaughan & Bazeley Win Mercury 15K

Kate Vaughan and Peter Bazeley captured victory at yesterday's Mercury Athletics 15 km road race in Portugal Cove-St. Philips. Vaughan covered the challenging course to finish fourth overall in an excellent time of 57 minutes 39 seconds. Bazeley's winning time was 54 minutes 13 seconds.

Tracy Hussey was second in the women's race in 1:02:08 while Janelle Miller was 3rd in 1:02:32. Second place in the men's division was taken by Peter Power in 54:56 and Edward Durnford took third in 56:29.

Molson Lite 10K Moves To Southside

The Molson Lite 10K is set for Saturday June 20 starting 8am. This year the route will be entirely on the Southside Road, an out and back starting and finishing at the Prosser's Rock Small Boat Basin.

Register next Thursday June 18 at Toyota Plaza Kenmount Road from 6-8:30pm. Presented by the Canada Games Prep Squad.

St.John's Tri Makes Top 20

The St.John's Triathlon was named one of the Top 20 Canadian Marquee Races in this month's issue of Triathlon Magazine.

No Subaru Group Ride This Saturday

The regular 9am Saturday Morning Subaru Group Ride is canceled for this Saturday only because most riders will be at the Oliver's Pond Sprint triathlon.

If you're not into the swim or run you are welcome to swing by Oliver's Pond around 10am and join in for the bike portion ... route is the St.John's Tri 23k loop of Windsor Lake.

Brockerville & Howard In The News

And on Saturday evening Julia Howard turned in an outstanding performance in a race featuring some of the strongest runners from seven nations in North America, Africa, the Caribbean and Europe. Howard had her best performance of the year at the Reebok Grand Prix Track and Field meet in New York, finishing eighth in a time of 4 minutes 11.78 seconds. Submitted by Ray Will.

Brockerville, Vaughan First in Garnish

The Garnish 10K last Saturday was windy and rainy but that didn't stop 76 runners from finishing. And first among them was Ryan Brockerville in a time of 33:37 while Kate Vaughan won for the ladies in 38:03
