Kids Of Steel Regatta Day Morning

The Kids Of Steel Triathlon is all set for Regatta Day in Bowring Park from 9-11am.

More than 100 kids will take on a pool swim, a closed course bike ride and a field/trail run, many returning athletes and many first-timers.

Register online HERE and pick up race kits Tuesday August 4 in the Crocodile Room at the Aquarena from 7-9pm.

Victory For McCreath In Copenhagan

Jennifer McCreath came away from last week's World Out Games with victory, completing the Marathon in 4:19:53 and the 1500 meter freestyle swim in 28:31.

Blueberry Harvest 10K September 20

The annual Harbour Grace Blueberry Harvest Timex 10K road race is on the calendar for Sunday September 20 starting 9am.

Last year a record 185 runners were at the start line and organizers are expecting yet another increase. Pre-registration information will soon be available.

St.John's Tri Practice Swim Results

A record 74 swimmers took part in Wednesday's St.John's Triathlon Open Water Swim Practice. Results are HERE. (Thanks Stephen Osmond for the picture)

The St.John's Triathlon is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. Kids Of Steel is on Regatta Day and the main event is Sunday August 9.

Swim Tonight - No Parking On Thorburn Road

The St.John's Tri Open Water Swim Practice is tonight as per the below post.

Take note that there is NO PARKING on Thorburn Road and apparently violators will be ticketed. There is plenty of parking available on the Bennett's Road parking lots.

Open Water Practice Swim Wednesday

The St.John's Triathlon is hosting an Open Water Practice Swim this Wednesday evening July 15 at Healey's Pond, Sunshine Camp Thorburn Road.

There will be a beginner's seminar on the beach starting 5:15pm, swim sign-in starts 5:45pm, and all take to the water at 6:30pm. Chose your distance of 500m, 1000m or 2000m.

No charge to participate however a TriNL membership is required for insurance purposes ... membership list and forms will be available at the event.

Mews 8K Results

Sunday morning's Mews 8K had 327 finishers with Colin Fewer taking 1st place in 24 minutes 4 seconds, and Kate Vaughan first for the ladies in 27:43.

City Cycling Plan Gets Green Light & Cash

The Province has contributed more than $1.5 million in support of the City of St.John's Cycling Plan.

Funding was announced at a Bowring Park ceremony and bike ride yesterday. Pictured are Robin King, Leon Organ, Paul Mackey, Shannie Duff, Glenn Smith and Joe Planchat.

Monday Night Ride Featured On NTV

Next Monday July 13 the Monday Night Bike Ride will start at Capital Subaru Elizabeth Avenue (instead of the Sunshine Camp). The NTV News weather hit will be broadcast live from there and will be all about Cycling and Triathlon.

The larger the group, the more exposure for the sport and the community, so please get your bikes out and spread the word. Meet on the Capital Subaru parking lot at 5:50pm to hang out with the cameras for a while before heading out for a ride.

No In-Person Registration For Mews 8K

Due to the high number of online registrations for the Mews 8K, tonight's In-Person Registration and Saturday's Late Registration have been CANCELED. Race kit pickup is still on Saturday from 10am-3pm at the Running Room Churchill Square.

Online registration will remain open until Friday at 5:00 PM, or until the new limit of 350 is reached, whichever comes first.

Trepassey Posse 2009

Congratulations to the 33 cyclists who took part in this weekend's 3rd Annual Trepassey Posse Road Bike Ride.

Riders left St.John's Saturday morning heading up the Southern Shore highway to finish the day 145 kilometers later in Trepassey. And Sunday morning it was on around the Irish Loop for the remaining 170 kilometers back to St.John's.

28 cyclists finished the 2-day 315k journey while 5 enjoyed day 1 only.

Wadden, Kerhoas Win Miquelon 25K

Katie Wadden was the first female across the finish line in 1:56:53 last Saturday at the Miquelon 25K. First for the men and overall was Bruno Kerhoas in 1:46:13.
