Forsey First At Canadian Championships

Seventeen year old Jillian Forsey of Kippens established herself as the most promising Junior (19 and under) distance runner in Canada on Saturday. Running in the Canadian Cross-Country Championships in Vancouver, Forsey produced a devastating finish to win the championship over 5 kilometres in a time of 17 minutes 22.4 seconds.

With the win the Stephenville High School student qualifies to compete for Canada in the North America, Central America and Caribbean Championships in Jamaica in January as well as the World Championships in Poland in March.

Also competing in Vancouver were Matthew Noseworthy of the Pearlgate Track and Field Club who finished 74th in the Junior Mens 8 kilometre race in 26 minutes 52 seconds, as well as Colin Fewer and Ryan Brockerville in the Senior Mens 10k. Fewer had a time of 31:11 seconds for 18th place while Brockerville finished 26th in 31:37.
