Teen Challenge Fun Run June 9

The Teen Challenge program is a residential recovery program for people battling drug and alcohol addictions. Teen Challenge offers counselling, mentoring, and academic and job skills training to give their students the tools they need to succeed outside the program.

Teen Challenge NL will be located in CBS at the former Circle Square Ranch site. Plans are underway for a Fun Run 9am Saturday June 9 to raise money for site improvements. Run course to be confirmed but working on a 5k route around Octagon Pond starting and finishing at the Community Center in Paradise.

Corner Brook Race Director Wanted

The Corner Brook Running Club is seeking a responsible person with strong organizational skills and, preferably, experience in organizing athletic events to organize and direct eight running events in Corner Brook and the surrounding area between May and November 2012.

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and the demands of each event. A brief letter of application, a resume and 3 references should be submitted by email or in hard copy by Monday March 5 to:

Paradise 5K Fun Run February 25

The Paradise Running Club is hosting a 5K fun run and walk on Saturday February 25 starting 9am at the Paradise Community Center.

It was Kate (Bazeley) Vaughan, Janelle Simmons and Allison Jones 1st, 2nd and 3rd female finishers at Saturday's Frosty 5-Miler in Mount Pearl. Top 3 males were David Freake, Mark Hayward and Ed Durnford in that order.

1909 NL Running Story

Thanks to Joe Ryan for submitting THIS STORY about a 2-man 10 mile foot race that took place in St.John's way back in 1909.

St.John's Tri Now World Qualifier

The St.John's Triathlon organizing committee has hit the ground running, securing status for the August 5 2012 race as a qualifying event for the 2013 ITU Age Group Olympic Distance World Championships.

For the Standard Distance Olympic Event the swim will be lengthened to 1500 meters, the bike distance will remain the same at 46k, and the run will come in at exactly 10k (taking out that nice little climb at the end of Bennett's Road!). There will also be a Sprint Distance of 750m / 23k / 5k.

Miami Marathon Results

Fine crew of NL Runners in Florida last weekend for the Miami Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K.

Congratulations to all and especially to Michael Coyne on his 3:15:21 2nd place age group finish in the full marathon.

Frosty 5-Miler Registration Still Open

Registration remains open for the Saturday February 11 Frosty 5-Miler in Mount Pearl.

REGISTER ONLINE by this Saturday February 4 for only $25 which includes your ticket to the Frosty Festival Community Breakfast right after the race.

Triathlon Season Starts In Paradise

Registration is now available for the season-opener Paradise Triathlon set for Sunday June 24.

This year's slate offers a Sprint and a Duathlon, with both events available for individuals or teams of 2 and 3.
