A Few Tunes From Ginny

NL Runner Ginny Ryan has been running and volunteering for many years and is now celebrating the release of her first CD "Great Wings in Flight".

Join her tomorrow Wednesday December 1 8pm at The Fat Cat Blues Bar on George Street where she'll be performing a mixture of original and traditional folk songs with help from musicians Pamela Morgan, Brian Way, Jason Whelan and Theo Weber among others. Admission is free.

National Cross Country Results

An outstanding sixth place finish was the highlight for Newfoundland and Labrador runners at the National Cross Country Championships in Guelph, Ontario on Saturday.

Kate Vaughan completed the 7k course in 24 minutes 27.7 seconds. Her placing puts her in a strong position for selection to the World Championships in 2011.

Other local finishes included a 46th place in the 8k Junior Men's race by Liam Delaney. In the 10k Senior Mens division Ryan Brockerville was 46th, Grant Handrigan was 62nd and Adam Snow finished 83rd.

The World Jog - Help Needed

Irish Ultra Runner Tony Mangon is nearing the end of the NL leg on his World Jog and needs some help!

Ultra Ryan

Just 2 weeks after running the NYC Marathon Michael Ryan ran the Central Park 9 lap NYRR Knickerbocker 60K in 5:58:30.

This was a PR for Michael some 26 minutes better than last year and was his 13th marathon or ultra marathon distance race for 2010.

Ladies Run For Charity

Madonna Wadden, Ann Angel, Donna Wadden, Eileen Collingwood and Jill Eaton completed yesterday's Women's Running Magazine Half Marathon in St. Petersburg Florida to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Spectacular Cross Country Run This Sunday

The Telegram 2010 Provincial Cross-Country Championship is taking place this coming Sunday November 21 at GlenDenning Golf.

This is the final competitive event for this year so come out and enjoy a run with the NLAA's best up-and-coming and senior athletes ... everyone is welcome! The long term forecast for Sunday is excellent with cool temperatures and a crisp, dry course.

Neary Runs Santa Clarica

Congrats to Noreen Neary who ran the Santa Clarica Marathon in Southern California last week. Noreen's time was 3:35:50 good for 8th overall and 4th in her age group.

Jingle Bell Run Sunday

Jingle Bell Run is tomorrow Sunday November 14. St.John's event starts 11am from the Legion in Pleasantville. You can register on site until 10:30am.

10K Toy Run

Last week The Running Room’s 10 km Clinic finished their program by running the first ever 10K Toy Run.

Instructor Steve Butler created the fun-run race with the registration fee being a toy for the VOCM Happy Tree. All participants ran an excellent race and over 30 toys were collected!

Remembrance Day 11K Results & Pics

Nick Quilty

Tyler Cole (39:34) and Allison Jones (49:07) were first place male and female at yesterday's New World Running Club Remembrance Day 11k. This year's race moved to the trails with an out-and-back course along the rail bed from Commonwealth Avenue.

Brockerville Earns NAIA Nationals Spot

Ryan Brockerville finished 3rd last week in San Diego to earn a spot on at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Cross Country Championships set for November 20 in Washington.

Nautilus Runners Of The Year

At their AGM last night the Nautilus Running Club named Don Fagan and Kate Vaughan as their 2010 Runners Of The Year.

Both Don and Kate had excellent running seasons delivering solid results and demonstrating continuous improvement. And both have made great contributions to the club and the community at large through their participation in group runs and club events, and their volunteer work at races.

Cross Country Meet November 21

Registration is now open for The Telegram 2010 Provincial Cross Country Championships set for Sunday November 21 at GlenDenning Golf in St.John's.

This is the culmination of the cross country season and also a great opportunity for road runners to try something different. Ages 20 and over will run 10k (men's) and 7k (women's) courses, with shorter distances for 19 and under.


Teams are encouraged! There is even space allocated for your Team Tent so get the gang together to come out and show your colors.
