Race The Base Results

Last weekend's Race The Base saw a small crew enjoy a scenic and historic race around the former American Naval Base in Argentia.

Andrew Burgess (38:17) and Dana Smith (60:36) took the 10K titles while Daryl Parsons (27:40) and Hailey Fudge (28:00) won the 5K.

Run For Freedom Results

John Angelopoulos scored another victory this weekend with a win at the Run For Freedom in Riverhead on Saturday. John was first over the 8k line in 24:44. First lady was Janet Angel in 33:40.

With heavy fog, drizzle, and water temperatures hovering near just 10 degrees on Sunday, the 2011 Paradise Triathlon became a Duathlon.

National Podium For Vaughan

A HUGE congratulations to Kate Vaughan who finished 3rd in 17:04 for the bronze medal and podium at the Canadian National Track and Field 5K Championship Friday night in Calgary.

Mews 8K July 10

The next sanctioned race on the NLAA calendar is the Mews 8K set for 8am Sunday July 10.

Online registration is $30 until July 3, then $40 until July 7. There is no in-person or race day registration.

This event features chip timing and a free gift valued at $13, and is an excellent training run for the July 24 Tely 10.

Run For Freedom This Saturday

Further to our PREVIOUS POST the Run For Freedom is this Saturday June 25 in Riverhead, St.Mary's Bay.

You can register in person at Newfoundland Power 55 Kenmount Road Thursday from 5-7pm, or race day at the Legion in Riverhead from 8:30am. Race starts 10am.

Bring In Summer On Your Mountain Bike

Don't let the cold and rain bring you down ... tomorrow Tuesday is the first day of summer! Time to get that mountain bike out and head to Pippy Park for the Fun n' Fast Short Track Series.

A brand new course has just been christened and you will enjoy a few loops on a groomed trail through the woods just above the Fluvarium, top and left of Nagel's Place.

Drop by 5:30pm Tuesday June 21 to register with all the fun beginning at 6:15pm. You'll be home enjoying your supper by 8pm, and feeling muscles you didn't even know you had!

Last Chance To Register For Paradise

Just a few more days to register for the Paradise Triathlon set for next Sunday June 26 with online registration closing 6pm Friday. Note there is NO IN-PERSON REGISTRATION so to register right now just CLICK HERE.

And this Saturday June 25 will see the first running of the Paradise Tri Kids Fun Run. Kids from 5-14 years old will run either 500 meters (5-7 year olds), 1k (8-11 years old), or 2k (12-14 years old). Registration is at the Paradise Town Hall on McNamara Drive from 2-2:45pm Saturday and the race starts 3pm.

15K Titles For Bazeley & McIlroy

Sunday's Toyota Plaza 15K saw a breezy, cold day but all the same 55 souls crossed the finish line in St.Phillips.

Peter Bazeley secured yet another first place finish in 52:01 while Caroline McIlroy grabbed a win in 57:20. Full results are posted HERE.

Miquelon 25K June 25

The Miquelon 25K is on Saturday June 25 and if you're looking for a road trip and an excellent race close to home, this is the one for you.

The Toyota Plaza 15k in St. Philip's is this Sunday June 12 starting 8am.

ONLINE REGISTRATION closes 11:59pm Thursday. Race day registration is 6:45am - 7:40am at the Rotary Sunshine Park Chalet on Thorburn Road.

This week's Outfitters Trail Run is around Octagon Pond and Neil's Pond in Paradise. Meet on the Octagon Pond parking lot for a 6:30pm start Wednesday evening June 8.

Brockerville & Vaughan Win Garnish

Despite the poor weather conditions 114 runners crossed the finish line at the 29th Annual CHCM 10K Road Race in Garnish Saturday.

Ryan Brockerville won the male category in 32:51, winning his fourth title in five years. Peter Bazeley and Peter Chevet were second and third respectively in 33:50 and 34:57. All times were faster than last year’s top three times.

Kate Vaughan won her fourth consecutive victory in 35:39 just 10 seconds off her course record. She placed fourth overall. Caroline Mcllroy and Allison Walsh were second and third respectively in 37:38 and 38:43.
