Tely 10 Earlybird Ends Saturday

The Tely 10 is less than a month away and the earlybird fee of $50 ($55 for non-NLAA members) ends this Saturday June 30.

REGISTER NOW and make sure you are one of the more than 3000 people that will be on the start line in Paradise 8am Sunday July 22.

Run For Freedom This Saturday

Head to Riverhead St.Mary's Bay this weekend for the Run For Freedom. You can register in person Thursday from 5pm-7pm at the Newfoundland Power Building 55 Kenmount Road.

Podium For Graham In Mont-Tremblant

Among the excellent performances at Sunday's Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant was a 3rd place age group podium finish for Phil Graham.

Molson Light 10K Results

The Molson Light 10K ran Saturday with 121 finishers tackling the hilly Southside Road course. Peter Power showed his grit yet again with a phenomenal winning time of 32:56. Kate Vaughan was first place woman in 36:39.

Paradise Tri Results

The fog was thick for the swim but quickly lifted bringing sunshine and heat for Sunday morning's Paradise Triathlon.

Jordan Baird retained his title winning the Sprint in 1:12:55 while Katherine MacBay improved on last year's 3rd place finish, winning the ladies division in 1:28:53. Zack Garland won the Duathlon in 1:28:49 with Kimberley Benoit winning for the ladies in 1:49:28. The Sprint Team event was won by Alexandra Stratton (swim and run) and her biking friend Martin Berthiaume from Quebec in a time of 1:19:01.

Mews 8K Earlybird Ends Monday

Earlybird registration for the July 8 Coors Light Iced T Mews Memorial 8K ends this coming Monday June 25, after which the cost goes up $10.

Molson Light 10K This Saturday

The Molson Canadian Light Timex 10K Road Race is this Saturday June 23 starting 8am. This race is in support of the NLAA 2013 Canada Games Program.

ONLINE REGISTRATION is available until 11:59pm Thursday night with in-person race day late registration available at Corpus Christi Parish Hall Saturday morning from 7-7:30am.

Paradise Triathlon Sunday

Thursday is the last day to register for this Sunday's Paradise Triathlon. The water will be warm and the sun will be shining so SIGN UP NOW !!

East Coast Trail Run Tonight

Another East Coast Trail run tonight Wednesday June 20 from Flatrock to Torbay starting 6:30pm.

The course is 7.13 kilometers one way with transportation provided from the finish back to the start.

Centennial Cup Results

Last weekend's Centennial Cup in Grand Falls -Windsor enjoyed record participation with almost 200 finishers. Laura Horwood (21:35) and Kurtis Mullett (19:18) won the 5K event while Michelle Mesh (45:55) and Owen Fifield (35:15) were victors in the 10K.

REAL Sneaker & Equipment Drive July 5

Athletics North East announces their 3rd Annual Sports Equipment and Sneaker Drive in support of the REAL Program to assist children in need by removing barriers to their participation in sport. Here are a few items collected in the past but note that ANY sports-related gear is welcome and will be put to good use:

• Running Shoes & Gear
• Soccer Cleats, Shorts, etc.
• Baseball Gear
• Basketball Shoes & Shorts
• Jackets & Shirts
• Skates

Please gather your previously loved items and drop them off on Thursday July 5 from 5-7pm at the REAL Program offices in the Crosbie Building on Crosbie Road.

Paradise 8K Figure 8 July 28

The Paradise Running Club will again this year host the Paradise Figure 8 8K around Octagon Pond and Neils Pond.

Race starts 8am Saturday July 28 and ONLINE REGISTRATION is now open.

Paradise Tri Swim Course

Paradise Triathlon Race Director Shawn Stratton took a refreshing dip in Octagon Pond Thursday and notes that the course is now marked with 2 white buoys, and the water was a comfortable 16 degrees.

750m course is outlined in the picture on the right and don't mind the squiggly red lines on the beach ... Shawn forgot to turn off his GPS!

Race is Sunday June 24 starting 8am with ONLINE REGISTRATION open until Thursday June 21.

GFW Centennial Cup This Sunday

The Centennial Cup Road Race is this Sunday June 17 in Grand Falls - Windsor.

Presented by the Exploits Road Runners and sponsored by Tech (Duck Pond Operations) this event features a 5k and a 10k, starting 9am at the YMCA on Prices Avenue.

Corner Brook National Shoe Trail 10K

The National Shoe Trail 10K is Tuesday June 26 starting 6pm at Margaret Bowater Park in Corner Brook.

Register on site race day from 5-5:50pm for just $15 ... kids can do the 2.5k version for free!

Race To The Sea Relay August 10/11

The 10th Annual Lighthouse Relay Race to the Sea is August 10 & 11 on the rugged southwest coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.

This is a phenomenal 120k relay race between Cape Anguille Lighthouse and Rose Blanche Lighthouse, visiting the Cape Ray Lighthouse and the Channel Head Lighthouse along the way. The event has hosted up to 130 runners in the past and this year would love to host YOU!

East Coast Trail Run Wednesday

Wednesday night June 13 will see the first East Coast Trail Run of the season for The Outfitters Trail Running Group. A challenging trail from Blackhead to Freshwater Bay with some great scenery totalling 9.2km return; there will be a turn-around at the 2.5km mark (5k total run) if you're so inclined.

Start time is 6:30pm and as always it’s a free run, everyone is welcome, and if you need a ride drop a line to tours@theoutfitters.nf.ca and they will try to help.

Quick work from the NLAA has results from Sunday's Toyota Plaza 15K now available HERE.

Toyota Plaza 15K Winners

The ageless Peter Power dominated yesterday's Toyota Plaza 15K Road Race in St. Phillips winning in a time of 52:36. Peter Bazeley was second in 54:08 and Richard Wilkins was 3rd in 1:01:15.

On the women's side, Kate Bazeley won in 58:21. Andrienne Kaul earned second in 1:01:46 and Sherrie Myers was third in 1:06:49. 55 participants took park in the race put off by Mercury Athletics.

Mews 8K Registration Open

The Coors Light Iced T Mews Memorial 8km Road Race is set for 8am Sunday July 8.

This is a fast course and has always provided runners with a good indication of their conditioning leading into the Tely 10 which is just just 14 days later.

The forecast is looking excellent for this Sunday's Toyota Plaza 15K with the rain and fog lifting, the sun shining, and double digit temperatures returning.

Pacers Duathlon Results

Sunday morning's low single digit temperatures, cold winds and drizzle didn't stop 40 hardcore athletes from taking on the Pacers Duathlon in the Goulds.

Jeff Holmes was first to complete the 4.7k run/18k bike/4.7k run, crossing the line in 1 hour 11 minutes 57 seconds. Sherry Grewal was first lady in 1:26:18.

Hayward & Bazeley Win Garnish

Saturday's CHCM 30th Annual 10K in Garnish had a record number 154 starters and a record 148 finishers. Mark Hayward was first overall in 34:36 while Kate Bazeley claimed her 5th win in as many years for 1st place female and 3rd overall in 36:28.

Corner Brook Sun Run Results & Pics

It was Lee Churchill in 28:19 for the win this morning at the Arthur James 8K Sun Run in Corner Brook. Kastine Churchill was first female finisher in 37:43.
