Last night Jillian Forsey shattered a provincial track record that has stood for almost 28 years.
Competing in the Stanford University Invitational Track and Field Meet in Stanford, California, the 18 year-old from Kippens ran the 5000 meters in 16 minutes 24.62 seconds for a third place finish in her section of the event. Less than three tenths of a second separated the top three finishers.
Her time broke Nicola Will's senior women's record set in 1986 by more than half a minute. Her time also broke her own junior (19 and under) women's record set at the 2013 Canada Summer Games.
