Forsey Shatters Provincial Record

Running for Canada at the World Junior Track and Field Championships in Oregon on Wednesday, Jillian Forsey lowered her own provincial senior and junior 5000 meter records by more than 22 seconds. Running against a top class international field, the 19 year-old from Kippens finished ninth in a time of 16 minutes 2.55 seconds.

Forsey's time is the second fastest time ever run by a Canadian junior and is only 10 seconds outside the Canadian Junior record. She is the first woman from the province to be selected to compete for Canada in a world championship track and field event.
