Caroline McIlroy will have another crack at the East Coast Trail this weekend, running about 220 kilometres in total from Cappahayden to Fort Amherst. Last year's attempt brought her almost 200k along the route but she had to give up near Petty Harbour.
This year's run will also raise funds for charity ... see the following from Caroline:
"Next Sat 27th to Sun 28th June I am going to make another attempt on the speed record for the East Coast Trail from Cappahayden to Ft Amherst. The current fastest know time is 35 hrs 17 mins for the 220 kms. I am going to be raising money for the Velocity Adventure Program which is run by Thrive - a community youth network in St John's.CLICK HERE to make a donation in support of her run (scroll down for the "Donate" button and type "Velocity Adventure" in the "Purpose" text box).
The Velocity Adventure Program serves youth at risk for substance abuse, lack of connection to school and/or early aggressive behaviour. Participants receive one on one support and monthly activities like rock-climbing, scuba diving and overnight wilderness adventures."
