Julia Howley Sets New Provincial Record

St. John’s runner Julia Howley claimed a new NL provincial senior women’s track record at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.

The 19-year-old Howley, who is studying at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, ran the one mile race in 4 minutes 59.05 seconds eclipsing the old record set by Sue Comeau in 1993.
